Virtual World Direct allows you to play the UK and / or EuroMillions Lotteries anywhere in the world as part of a syndicate. It works by paying a weekly subscription of £5 per lottery syndicate (if you wanted to play both the UK and Euromillions it would cost £10). For the UK lotto you get entries into the Wednesday and Saturday draw and the EuroMillions is drawn on a Friday. The normal costs if you were to play on your own would be £2 for UK Lotto and £1.50 for EuroMillions. What makes VWD interesting is that you join a syndicate of other people that allows you to win with less numbers than you would ordinarily need. Using the UK lotto as an example, you would join a syndicate of 49 people, this syndicate would have 5 lotto numbers generated (there are six in the draw) VWD then buys lotto tickets with your numbers on and every one of the missing numbers giving the syndicate a total of 44 entries into the draw. This also means that if you match 2 numbers then you automatically match 3 and you only need 5 numbers to get the jackpot. The principle is the same for EuroMillions and you get 36 entries into each draw. We think this is an excellent idea, the only drawback being it is slightly expensive, if you had 44 friends you could do a similar thing for £1 each.
VWD is more than just a lottery syndicate though, you can make money from them by referring other players. You get £1 for each referral which is offset against your initial subscription but after that you can earn cash. This is a great idea but far too expensive to join as a player only. Even though we like the idea immensely we cannot recommend this as a business opportunity either, it is too hard to get new people to join, presumably because of the expense. We have spent over £100 on subscriptions and advertising without a single referral, this is very poor indeed. We would rate the idea 10/10 but the money making potential about 2/10, this averages at around 5/10.
